Bach, concerto n° 1 BWV 1052 in D minor (Ré mineur) for Harpsichord, 3rd mov: Rondo vivace. Piano version performed by Dinu Lipatti (1917-1950), with the Concertgebouw Amsterdam orchestra. Conductor : Edourd Van Beinum. This a rare 1947 version, the best one in my opinion. Romanian Dinu Lipatti, who died 3 years later, perfectly felt the fiery dimension of this piece. This harpsichord concerto is thought to be based on a lost violin concerto in D minor, which was later arranged as an organ concerto in 1728, and then as a harpsichord transcription. This very virtuosic piece is probably one of Bach’s earliest concertos. Someone wrote it’s an “orgasmic” music. I agree, but it’s not only this : it gets, as well, a strong spiritual and dynamic dimension.
