A Wild Ride: Impulse-Buying A Classic Ford Mustang

Well, I haven’t so much gotten to write on this weblog nearly as much as I might like, owing to all the time I’ve been running around town with Dad manage his super nutball midlife crisis. True, some would argue it’s not as far out as it could be. How it went, I mean what he did was he dressed up like fonzie, and come on over to my place and tell me, in his “coolest” dialect: “Hop in, dude, you and I are gonna start vying for some classic Ford Mustangs for sale. You got it, buddy, I intend to buy an old school muscle car.”

Right then and there the two of us went out to a couple of those weird vintage car places that you’re just about certain are mob-run, and I see the old man wrote a check without even stopping to think, for a very well-preserved classic Ford Mustang. It really is quite purchase. It had a great sound too.

You’ll notice I phrased about that sound in a past tense. It sounded great right up to the point that it totally broke down. My Dad informs me that it’s a pretty easy fix and that all it will take is the right part. Only thing is, it may not be as easy to pick up 1965 Mustang parts as it was about a million years ago, but my Dad informs me there’s a pretty sizable market for them to this day. As far as my Dad tells me the the best bet for finding parts for 1968 Mustangs is actually web auctions, since you can find them refurbished and often as good as new. They might not be that inexpensive, though… After all, they are half-century old automobile parts.

Not the worst midlife crisis ever, I guess. He could’ve decided to buy a toupee.
